Things to look for in WMNs channel assignment problem:
1 - Localized solution (not necessrily ?)
2 - Minimize interference
3 - Map radios to channels
4 - Load Sharing among links -> directly related to interference on particular channels
5 - Tree connections
6 - Co-channel Interference 802.11x (check the numbers on the spec)
