Introduction To Christianity - pg. 85

The God of Israel is not moved away to the aristocratic distance of a king; he is a stranger to the boundless despotism linked in those days with the image of a king - he is the near-at-hand God, who fundamentally can be the God of each and every man. What food for thought this provides!
